Veronica Mars Season 4 Rant
[Spoilers for Veronica Mars ahead] So I was looking through old google docs and I found one that I wrote on June 28, 2019 around 1am. I had just finished the Veronica Mars Hulu revival and I was furious. I would copy/paste it, then just post, but my writing was awful. Instead, I’m going to rewrite my thoughts (which have stayed mostly the same).
I have no words for the ending, none at all. Kidding of course, otherwise the rest of this post would just be blank. But I cannot believe that they decided to kill off Logan. Right after they got married too! It was such a cheap blow. An emotional sucker punch to the face. The moment right before the explosion happened, I was like “this is not happening, this is a complete joke”. Well, haha funny joke…

“AVC: So let’s talk about the way season four ends: When did make the decision to kill off Logan Echolls?
RT: Somewhere between the movie and taking the pitch [for season four] in. It was in my head for a long time. It felt to me like Veronica and Logan being happily ever after is the end of the series. I don’t know how I could’ve kept writing him into Veronica Mars as the husband or as the boyfriend.”
This makes no sense to me. It was completely banking on the idea of the show getting renewed for a season 5. Guess what, no renewal. It’s been about a year and a half, nothing. I hope all of the writers are really satisfied with this ending. Rob Thomas’ reasons were bs. I literally would’ve preferred fan service over this. Disposing of Logan like that so easily…
It’s all over now so there’s not much anyone can do. We can all continue to pretend that the show ends at the wedding I suppose.
I’ll end this with a quote from my old google doc, “I was actually emotionally invested in these characters and wanted both of them to be happy. But now Logan is dead, like wtf wtf wtf.”
